Lessons from the Kitchen, the Couch, and the Pulpit

What’s on my mind
Every time I open a social media app, I’m met with a “WTF” moment. From politics to the cost of living—it’s giving chaos. Like… are we living in a simulation?
I used to think the role of president didn’t really hold that much day-to-day power. But in the last 78 days, I’ve seen at least 45 executive orders being signed like it’s a to-do list. It's funny… but also not. 😩
Sometimes I wonder what other countries think of us. Like, from the outside looking in, it’s giving:
America: The Ghetto
The way we’re out here vibing in full-blown dystopia but still going to brunch and scrolling TikTok—it’s the resilience for me, but also the delusion 😭
Being in your 30s is WILD right now.
Apparently, we’re supposed to be buying houses and “leveling up” … but how?? The interest rates are insane. Tariffs and taxes are on the way. And let’s not even talk about the price of rent. When my parents were our age, they could get an apartment for under $1k.
Now? That doesn’t even get you a decent closet in the Northeast.
It’s forcing all of us to get creative. Like very creative. Income streams, side hustles, budgeting apps, low-key Googling “how to build a tiny home in my parents’ backyard” creative. We’re being pushed to be tactical about our money, our lifestyles, and our long-term goals.
I think I’ve finally learned the true value of a dollar… It’s giving $0.50 💀
Nah but fr, does anyone have any actual insight into the long-term effects of all this? 👀
Like… why TF are eggs $10??? 😩
What I’m binge-watching
Real Housewives of ATL
Okay, first of all—I love how they leveled up the style this season. It looks way more expensive, and I’m so here for it. They’re not dragging out the drama either. Every episode has been interesting so far.
Also, I’m here for Shamea! Just a wealthy Black woman living and walking in her greatness—you can feel it through the screen. 🙌🏾
Season 16 Episode 5
Let’s talk about it. In this episode, the drama hit a new high. Brit definitely came in hot and heavy, but Kenya took it to another level with that poster board moment. What should’ve been her time to shine turned into a bitter spectacle.
Yet, people say she wasn’t wrong… but that raises a bigger question: When someone comes for you, is there a line you shouldn’t cross in the name of revenge? This episode wasn’t just about reality TV—it reflected something deeper about pride, ego, and knowing when to fight or walk away.
Marvelous Ms. Masiel
I just finished all five seasons and WOW—10/10 recommend!
The series follows the ups and downs of an upper-middle-class Jewish family in the 1950s. It’s hilarious, encouraging, and honestly, super relatable. Miriam Maisel is a boss ass bish. Watching her level up, make mistakes, be challenged, and fall in love—whew. So complex, but so real.
Her parents?? Hilarious. The in-laws? Had me screaming lol.
If you're looking for a light-hearted show to watch when you have free time, I recommend it.
Sunday’s Service said…
Sermon: Don’t Miss Your Moment
Scripture: Matthew 27:19
Main points
One word from God can shift your destiny
The approval of man can mute obedience to God
Missed moments lead to compromise
Sermon in a sentence: Obey God now—or you’ll regret it later.
Excerpt from my notes:
Sometimes I wonder if I’m making the right decisions. I get nervous, but I know I need to lean on God—to include Him in my decisions and ask for signs if I’m on the right path.
God uses dreams to protect, promote, and give direction. He’s strategic. One word from Him can stop you from making a deadly mistake. Making big decisions alone makes you anxious—but with God, it will work out.
It can be tough to do what’s right when it’s not popular. But don’t let the approval of others keep you from obeying God. Don’t miss your moment. Don’t compromise when you should commit. Stand on truth. Don’t fold under pressure.
Inaction is a decision
Silence is a statement
Delay is disobedience
Don’t miss your moment because who knows if you will get that chance again.
Sermon starts at 58:09
In the kitchen
I’m Caribbean by descent—but I loveeeeee southern cooking. So here’s my take on smothered turkey wings… and let me tell you, they came out perfect! I can’t wait to smother everything now lol.
Smothered Turkey Wings Recipe
Here’s what I did:
Clean and season the turkey wings with love lol. (Use what you’d normally put on chicken, or follow my video for exact spices.)
Add whatever veggies you’ve got in the fridge. I used peppers and onions.
Pan-fry the turkey wings for some crisp and color, then transfer to a baking dish.
In the bowl with the peppers and onions, add ½ cup chicken broth + 1 tablespoon flour. Pour over the wings.
Then add a can of cream of mushroom soup + a little water to loosen it up. Pour over everything.
Cover and bake for 1 hour.
Uncover, mix it all around, cover again, and bake until fork-tender (about 45 more minutes).
What recipe should I try next?
